Simply put "BELLA BIRTHS" means beautiful births.  Birth is a miraculous and beautiful event.  I see birth as a natural occurance in a woman and her family's life.  It is a sacred and honorable time.  I believe a woman should be given the right and the respect to birth where she feels most comfortable.  Many times this is in her home or sometimes a birth center.  Respecting a woman's privacy and allowing her to feel comfortable in her chosen space really helps her to birth naturally.  Most of the time a woman knows just what she needs to do in order to birth her baby.  As a midwife birth has taught me to take a watch and see attitude always respecting a woman's right to know what she needs.

I try to encourage my clients to join in decision making instead of deciding for them.   Throughout the prenatal course I will  try to inspire a woman to trust in her body and the natural process of birth. I have been fortunate to have  a wide variety of birthing experiences.  In the beginning of my career I delivered babies in hospitals and assisted Obstetricians with  cesarean sections.  I watched many women have countless unnecessary interventions and they were not satisfied with their birth experiences.  Over the years as I left hospitals and specialized in out of hospital birth I saw that BIRTH REALLY DOES WORK!   I also have learned that interventions such as pitocin and medications can actually lead to complications.  I  am completely comfortable with medications and epidurals if it should become necessary but experience has taught me not to rely on technical interventions.

I felt a strong calling to become a midwife after giving birth to my own beautiful children. Having a natural birth was very important to me. I am the mother of four children and each of their births was empowering and life changing for me in special way.  I love being a mom!

I have 18 total years of Nursing experience with 8 years as a Nurse-Midwife. I have a BSN from the University of Texas at El Paso. I became a registered nurse in 1989.  After 10 years as a nurse, I attended the Parkland School of Nurse Midwifery at UT Southwestern Medical School.  I am a Board Certified Nurse Midwife and I am licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of Texas(1999).

I have practiced midwifery both in and out of hospitals.  I have worked at major medical centers, hospitals, clinics, birth centers and homes. I will assist you with your birth wherever you feel most comfortable, at home or at a birth center.  I have experience with waterbirth and highly recommend water for labor and birth.

My heart lies with women and my desire is to support you through the birth experience you desire. I am very greatful to be a part of such a beautiful and spiritual experience.
